Near the center of Anza-Borrego Desert State Park, the largest state park in California, lies Hellhole Canyon. After 1.2 miles in, the walls of the canyon begin to close in and it seems a bit surprising to find a place where mosses, ferns, sycamores, and cottonwoods flourish around a small 20 feet waterfall, Maidenhair Falls.
